Where Learning is Fun!
Beginner Obedience (Good Manners Class)
Everyone needs to be polite and have good manners!  This class is
designed for the beginner puppy, or the recently adopted adolescent, and
even the older dog who may need a "refresher" course.  Because the class sizes
are small, individual attention is given and the curriculum is modified to
accommodate each student's needs.  Before class, playtime is encouraged
depending on the dog's/puppy's age, size, play style, etc.
(Socialization is important even when you're older!)
We will focus on how dogs learn and how we can effectively
communicate with them.  You will learn about dog's body language
and calming signals.  You'll learn how to teach your dog sit, down,
stay, wait, walk with a loose leash, leave it, attention, heel position.
Because we'll be using a clicker to mark and reward, your
dog will be set up for a lifetime of eager learning!
Open to dogs from 8 weeks to 10 years + and their families.
Tuition is $90.00.
See the  Schedule for start dates.  Series of 7 classes.
Your dog must be up to date on vaccines and be free of internal and external
parasites.
Class usually lasts for 1 hour.
Class size is limited to 7 dogs.
You must preregister by phone or email.
Canine Good Citizen® and Tricks Class (will continue in
the fall)
Even if you're not interested in earning a CGC title for your dog, take this class if you want to
improve on obedience skills!  The CGC employs practical exercise that you can use every day.
Any purebred or mixed breed dog can earn a
Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title.  The CGC title
is given out by the
American Kennel Club.  The test is based on 10 basic good manners skills;
accepting a friendly stranger, supervised separation, sitting politely for petting, accepting
grooming, coming when called, sit, down and stay, reaction to another dog and distractions.
Canine Good Citizen®  is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good
manners at home and in the community.
We will practice the 10 skills needed to pass the CGC test.  Even if you don't want to be tested,
the stuff we do in this class will produce a dog that is safe and happy to be in public.
Open to all Beginner Graduates to advanced students.
Tuition is $50.00.
5 weeks in a row.
See the schedule for start dates.
You must preregister by phone or email.
                Puppy Social Class
In Puppy Social Class, owners will learn about potty training,
how to deal with play biting, fun games to teach good manner,
handling skills, grooming, preventing future behavior
problems, how to deal with unwanted behaviors, and so much
more!  The puppies will learn to have fun in a different environment
and because class is held at
North St. Paul Animal Hospital , they'll learn to
love coming to the vet!  The puppies will get supervised, safe playtime with other puppies
and meet new people.  They will experience different objects and learn how to deal with
potentially scarey stuff.  This class is designed for first time puppy owners all the way to
experienced pet dog owners.
All puppies deserve a good head start to ensure they become well-balanced, happy,
friendly, adult dogs.
